Pension Claim Form(Aadhar) – Simpler alternative to the conventional Form 10D

Could claiming pension be made easier than this ?

Well, you can reserve your judgement for the end of this blog post.

Employees’ Pension Scheme membership entitles a member to receive lifelong pension after superannuation if the accumulated contributory period of his employment exceeds 10 years. However, there are also options for receiving reduced pension and delayed or deferred pension.

Reduced pension can be received after completing 50 years age and before attaining 58 years. However, the monthly Pension amount is reduced by 4% for every year that the Pension is pre-poned from superannuation age.

Conversely, if you chose to defer the Pension by up to 2 years, you will be eligible for increment of 4% in the eligible monthly Pension for every year of postponement.

So what is new about this one page Pension Claim Form :

  1. A six-page claim form has been neatly condensed into a single page seeking only relevant information.
  2. The claim form can be submitted by the member directly to their jurisdictional EPFO office without employer’s attestation.
  3. The claim can be used only in cases where employees details in Form 11(New), Aadhar number, Nomination Details and Pension Bank Account details are available in UAN portal and UAN is activated.
  4. The Pension Claim is also to enclose self attested:
    • Passport size photograph of the self and spouse
    • Copy of Aadhar card of each member of the family
    • Copy of first page of passbook/Cancelled cheque for bank account seeded.

Any problem with this newly designed claim form ?

  1. The claim form does not provide for the provision of Deferred Pension. i.e If a member wants to claim pension at the age of 59 years or 60 Years as per this notification, they don’t get an option in this claim form.
  2. There is no space for monthwise NCP(Non contributory Period) days which is an essential enclosure for a conventional Form 10D. This may lead to a lot of grievance unless NCP days for all members are made available by the employer online. Quite a task to ask for !

Nevertheless, the move to simplify things is always appreciated. Hope the claim form actually benefits the members and does not remain a mere announcement like claim Form 10D-UAN.

Happy claim settlement. Please share your comments and experiences in the comments below.
